By the Numbers…5 Things Posted, 97 Participants
Thing #1 Updates:
We are very close to 100 staff members being registered for the 23 Things. Encourage a colleague to join us. Tell them it’s not too late to start. All they need to do is go to the blog, http://bcl23.blogspot.com, and scroll down to Thing #1.
Gmail sometimes, randomly, requires verification of accounts. IF you are asked to verify your account, follow the on-screen instructions to receive a verification code. You don’t have to use a cell phone: one staff member received their code on a regular land line.
Thing #2 Update:
Lately, Google reader has been wonky*. The “Welcome to Google Reader” pane disappears!Search by Topic yields no results! I share your frustration. I re-check each of the Things as I post them on the blog. We know change happens quickly, but how can things be different the very next day?
If you want more information and can’t get the “Welcome to Google Reader” pane to appear (even after using the work-around I recommended in the blog), try one of the Optional Additional Resources. If you want to search for a blog by topic, you can try one of these sites: blogsearch.google.com, technorati.com, blogsearchengine.com.
Here’s just a few of the blogs staff has subscribed to: Awful Library Books, Blogging For a Good Book, Brevard County Jobs, Cake Wrecks, Free Range Librarian, LOL Catz, Mayo Clinic News, OCLS, Unshelved.
Thing #3 Update:
There are different reasons staff has chosen to participate in the 23 Things: to learn what their kids and/or grandkids already know, to become familiar with new tools, to better help our patrons. Whatever the reason, I’m glad you’re here!
*won·ky (adjective): weird, whacked out, messed up, not working for no definable reason
